What I like about Helsinki?

The sea... I love to stroll around the sea shore in the warm spring and summer days, especially around Kaivopuisto, and watch the sparkling water. If there is something characteristic about Helsinki, it is sea surrounded by big stones. And sitting on this stones and drinking beer or cider while watching sunset, that is also something.

Cycling through the night... there is nothing better than cycling through the warm summer night and watching stars, feeling the wind in the face. Helsinki is stuffed with safe and well organized cyclist paths. You can get by bike even where other people drive.

Kirpputori... when you're lucky you can find at the flea market similar to kirppis almost everything. You can equip a household, renew your wardrobe, buy presents...and much cheaper then in the ordinary shops. Additionally it can be even fun, when you take with you some friend. There is a flea market on every second corner, in Helsinki.

Summer events... in summer (and the first half of autumn) city is full of events. There is always something happening, starting with music festivals, through the art events, to the movie festivals. And if there is not any official event, you can just visit Kaivopuisto, Kallio or Esplanadi, and be sure that something is happening there...

 Stairs at Senaatintori... if you have not sat on the stairs to the "White Church" yet, you should definitely try it. Indescribable feeling.

Co mám ráda na Helsinkách?

Moře... Miluju procházky podél břehu během teplých jarních a letních dní, hlavně v okolí Kaivopuisto, a pohled na třpytící se vodu. Jestli je něco typicky helsinské, pak je to moře obklopené velkými kameny. A sedět na těch kamenech, pít cider nebo pivo a pozorovat západ slunce, to je taky něco.

Noční projíždky na kole... není nic lepšího než projíždět se městem teplou letní nocí, prohlížet si hvězdy a cítit vítr na tváři. Helsinky jsou přeplněné bepečnými a přehlednými cyklistickými stezkami. Tam, kam se dostanete autem, můžete si klidně dojet i na kole.

Kirpputori... v blešáku typu kirppis najdete při troše štěstí cokoli a můžete si tam vybavit úplně celou domácnost, obnovit šatník, nakoupit dárky,...a to za daleko méně babek než v běžných obchodech. Navíc ve společnosti kamarádů může být takové nakupování docela legrace.V Helsinkách je bleší trh na každém druhém rohu.

Letní akce... v létě a v první půli podzimu se v Helsinkách pořád něco děje. Každý týden je nějaký festival, ať už hudební (Flow Festival, Maailmakyläässä, Kuudes Aisti,...), umělecký (Night of Arts) či filmový (Rakkautta& Anarchia, Festival of Comedy, Leffapikniiki,...)... a pokud se zrovna nekoná žádná větši organizovaná akce, stačí jen zajít do Kaivopuisto, Kallio nebo na Esplanadi a buďte si jisti, že na něco narazíte... 

 Schody na Senaatintori... pokud jste ještě neseděli na schodech vedoucích k "Bílému kostelu", tak to určitě vyzkoušejte. Pro mě je to nepopsatelný pocit...
