Maailma Kylässä or World Village Festival is a yearly summer event, which is trying to provide a practical example and an overview of international and intercultural policy of Finland.

It is a two day music and theatre festival held in the city centre of Helsinki, that gives a place and opportunitty for promotion to the organizations working with immigrants, promoting and supporting different cultures and developing cooperation of Finland with different nations and cultures (throughout the whole World).

Festival traditionally takes place around Rautatientori (main train station Helsinki) and in the park Kaivopusito (up to 5minutes walking distance from the trainstation) and hosts many interesting bands of different nations and cultures. On top of it, visitors can taste different traditional cuisines and get to know lot of organizations that had succesfully rented a place in the festival area.

Entrance is free and the festival is held on the beginning of real finnish summer. Both guarantee lots of visitors. That is why you should get ready for crowded places full of different people, smells, sounds and weird things... If you want to see what lies in Helsinki and surrounding areas, be part of it.You will see (meet) people of different nations, cultures, fashion styles, philosophies... and things you have not dreamt of. :-)
Though if you don't like crowds, better avoid city centre in the days of the festival.

This year we were totally amazed by chinese band called Hanggai, that combines traditional mongolian folk music with punk and rock. It was awesome!

Maailma Kylässä aneb World Village Festival je každoroční letní událost, jež nabízí praktický příklad a vhled do mezinárodní a mezikulturní politiky Finska.
Jedná se v podstatě o dvoudenní hudební a divadelní festival odehrávající se v centru Helsinek, který zároveň nabízí možnost propagace organizací, jež pracují s imigranty, zabývají se propagací a podporou jiných kultur či rozvíjejí mezinárodní a mezikulturní spolupráci Finska s jinými zeměmi (celého světa).

Festival se tradičně rozprostírá v okolí Rautatientori (hlavní nádraží Helsinek) a v prostorách Kaivopusito (do 5minut volnou chůzí z nádraží), a hostuje mnoho zajímavých kapel různých národností a kultur. Kromě festivalu mají návštěvníci možnost také ochutnat různé tradiční dobroty různých zemí a dozvědět se něco zajímavého o organizacích, jež si úspěšně pronajaly stánek v prostorách festivalu.

Vstup je zdarma a festival se odehrává na začátku finského léta. Obojí zaručuje velikou účast. Proto se taky připravte na velké množství lidí, pachů, hluku a podivností... Jestli chcete vidět, kdo všechno obývá Helsinky a okolí, určitě vyražte na tento festival. Narazíte na lidi různých kultur, tradic, módních stylů, filozofií... a všeho o čem se vám doposud ani nezdálo.
Pokud nemáte rádi davy, radši se v těchto dnech centru vyhněte.

V letošním roce (2013) nás dostali a vyrazili nám dech čínští hudebnící Hanggai kombinující tradiční mongolskou hudbu s punk rockem. Byl to nářez!
